Maui on Our Minds

We live on Maui, a unique little volcanic island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Both of us have lived here for over ten years and consider it our home with no desire or intention of leaving. We are very active in the community and this BLog will attempt to share with you many of our experiences in this beautiful place.

Anniversary

Caren and Wayne have been together for five years and are headed to twenty-five. We quietly celebrated our anniversary on Sept. 8 but will be taking a cruise around the Hawaiian islands in late October. We have made the decision that if so many people spend thousands of dollars to come out here, why should we spend thousands to leave. We spend our vacations...….trips,,,and ...getaways here in the islands. We will be on the ship for our favorite event here on Maui, Halloween. We usually go to Lahaina's Mardi Gras of the Pacific celebration, but his year we'll have to make the fun on the NCL Spirit of Aloha.

Here are some pictures of us during various events and outings during the past five years.

WOW -Wailea on Wednesday is one of our farovite pass times. The upscale shopping center at the Shops at Wailea has a number of art galleries we enjoy and several excellent restaurants that we love.

We also love to celebrate our friend's special occasions around the area and find many of the hotel lounges and restarants perfect places to have a convivial gathering.

Caren and I share the same affection for the great variety and high level of all the performing arts here on our little island. Art Night in Lahaina every Friday evening is a great time for us to visit the bautiful art done by Maui talents that we can't afford to buy but love to visit. We met dancing and still go as frequently as we can, although places to dance our style of dancing are diminishing.

Life is very enjoyable here with lots of music, art, entertainment and many like-minded friends to share it all with…..not to mention the beauty and weather of the place. Sunsets fare usually awesome and we take in as many as possible.

Special parties are a big thing here and this birthday party was no exception. All the guests were to come as royalty to honor the "queen" fo the night. It's odd, but I don't own a suit or sportcoat.....but I do own a tuxedo for these special occasions.

Life is good and we are doing all we can to enjoy it completely, So like we said, we're now working on year six and going for twenty-five.
